Principal's Message

July 2020

Lodge Families,

We understand that 2020 continues to raise concerns for many of you. As the principal of our school, I have spent many days and nights reflecting on what school will look like, meeting with our leadership team, brainstorming with other administrators, and utilizing district support staff to insure that our students have the best education we can offer this year. While I don’t know how this pandemic will affect school each week, be it in the building or utilizing learning from home with our teachers, I can promise that we are planning for implementation that exceeds expectations.

For classes held at school, we have reassigned classrooms, added sections in many grade levels and changed our protocols to establish effective social distancing. Students will also be assigned by grade levels to specific restrooms and areas on the playground to limit mixing student cohorts.

Technology will be a key component of our instruction this year. Whether we are in school or learning from home, all Lodge students will have a personal device assigned to them. These devices will be used in class and also sent home so students can access synchronous instruction should the community health guidelines require learning from home.

I know many parents are anxious to see the changes. As the start of school nears, we will schedule individual Open House opportunities for families to meet their child’s teacher, explain arrival and dismissal changes and drop off school supplies. Look for more information soon.

I have been moved recently by a song by Thomas Rhett that reminds us to “Be a Light”. I hope Lodge Community School staff can remind you to “just believe”, “take a stand” and “be a light”. I look forward to seeing all of our students and families again soon.

Stay safe and healthy,

Ms. Amy Bonenberger
Principal
Lodge Community School

Respectfully,
Amy Bonenberger
